At school, we've started this project called "Write to Produce" (WTP). It's where we make a short movie that is a PSA (public service announcement), news report, commercial or an instructional video.
In the PSA, we get to pick a topic that we believe should be addressed like bullying, video game addiction etc.
If we pick the news report, we pick a current event and kind of, I guess you could call it a reenactment. We pretend that we are talking to all the viewers like an actual news reporter.
For the commercial, we invent an item and advertise it. That one is pretty straightforward. ;)
And for the instructional video, we show the viewers how to do something.
What we are supposed to do is write out the script and storyboard. It has to be about three to four minutes. That's a pretty decent amount of time, in my opinion. My group and I are doing the news report. We are going to start writing out a script soon.
My teacher appointed directors in the groups. He said that they "weren't the bosses" but that's just code for "you tell everyone what to do". ;)
I am the director in my group and now I can finally take a leadership role. I have never been shy it's just that I don't be as open as I can be. That's me for you, quiet as a mouse.
I will definitely post more about this project as it will last for a loooong time.
